From Inmate to Innovator: A Tech Revolution
In America, there are over 2.1 million people currently locked up. Every year nearly 650,000 are released from prison. In one year, about 45% of those released are sent back to prison. Over 60% are incarcerated within three years, and nearly 73% are sent imprisoned again after five years. Technology is a field of innovation, ideas, and risk-taking. Devices and applications have been created that have shaped the world. I feel that along with creating life-impacting devices and applications, tech can also help with battling recidivism and stemming the flow of people incarcerated.
